Bracket frames cost more than they look

A ꧁ ꧂ frame is two characters before any styling, and the styled letters inside often cost double again in the units many length checks use. A tag that fits plain can be rejected once framed. The character-cost table below shows the real figures so you can trim before the form does it for you.

Distinctive beats unreadable

A tag has to work on a scoreboard, in a kill feed and in a friend request, usually at small size and sometimes in a font you do not control. Heavy combining marks and dense decoration lose against a clean bold or small-caps tag with one symbol. Aim for recognisable at a glance.

Expect rejection and have a fallback

Name fields in games are among the most restrictive anywhere, and many accept only a basic character set. Generate two or three candidates at different decoration levels so you have something ready when the most decorated one is refused.

Which characters actually convert

Unicode styling is not a font

A font is a file installed on the reader's device that decides how letters are drawn. This tool cannot install anything on someone else's phone. Instead it substitutes each letter for a different Unicode character already designed to look bold, script, circled or wide. That distinction explains both the strength and the limitation: the styling survives copy and paste into plain-text fields, but the underlying data has changed, so search, sorting, moderation filters and screen readers all treat the result differently from ordinary letters.
